The Private Security Agency means an entity which involves in the business of providing Security Guards and other related services at business/private establishment.
The operation of the private security agencies are governed by The Private Security Agencies Regulation Act, 2005, popularly known as PSARA.
It is mandatory for a Security agency to obtain Licence from the State Controlling Authority prior to commencement of the business.
The PSARA License is issued to operate in one or more district of a particular state or for the entire state.

Procedure for filing of the PSARA Licence

Ensure that all documents ( Pan Card, TAN Number, GST, PF, ESI, S/E Registration with ITR of every director etc.) are ready.
Sign an MOU with a Training Institute
The party has to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with a recognized Training institute for training its guards and supervisors.
A Police verification is filed in Form -I by the applicant, and in case the applicant is a firm, company or any other association of person, separate verification form shall be filed for every proprietor, majority shareholder, partner or directors.
Filing at Controlling Authority of State
The PSARA application is processed for verification by the State Control Authority. The NOC from the Police authorities, controlling the State authority is received either with an OK or with a refusal.
Conditions of PSARA Licence
The PSARA specifies that all Security agency requires to engage supervisors to supervise the work of security guards. A person from the army, navy or air force with a minimum of three years of experience, must be given preference while engaging a supervisor.
